What We Believe
THE BIBLE
We believe that the Bible is the Holy Word of God ~ 2 Timothy 3:16 says "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."
GOD, JESUS, & THE HOLY SPIRIT (THE TRINITY)
There is but one God who is a personal God who in holy love creates, sustains, and orders all ~ 1 Corinthians 8:6
Jesus Christ is the Lord of the church and all life ~ Ephesians 1:22-23
The Holy Spirit works in the hearts and minds of believers, creating and sustaining the church through the gospel, giving guidance and comfort, and uniting believers with their Lord and one another ~ Isaiah 11:2, John 14:26, Romans 8:26
God exists in three distinct persons (The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit). According to scripture, these three persons are one Being and are referred to as the Trinity. ~ 1 John 5: 7-8
MARRIAGE
We believe that marriage is a God-ordained covenant that should be entered into by one man and one woman.
~ Genesis 1: 27-28, Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1: 26-27
~ Genesis 2:24 says "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."
BAPTISM, LOVE FEAST, COMMUNION, & ANOINTING
Through these practices, we can come together to imitate Jesus' actions while he walked on this Earth.
Baptism is how we show our commitment to Jesus Christ. Brethren practice water baptisms where the believer is immersed three times forward "in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit." Baptism serves as a symbol of cleansing and joins the believer to the body of Christ.
Love Feast is when we join together to remember what Jesus Christ did for us and to repeat the humble acts he showed his disciples. This includes sharing a simple meal, washing the feet of others, and sharing Communion as we break the bread and share the cup. We do this to remember Jesus' sacrifice for all of us on the cross.
Anointing is used to help us in times of need or renewal when oil is applied to the forehead in the name of the Lord. This is a time for confession, expressing concerns, and asking for spiritual help. Often anointing is accompanied by the laying of hands and prayer for the anointed individual.
